Warm ups are an essential part of your workout routine, without one your body will not be prepared to get the maximum out of the workout.
The main reasons to warm up are:
1. Mobilise the joints; make sure you have full mobility in order to get in the right positions and prevent injury when working out
2. Activate right muscles; this will mean when undertaking an exercise you will be using the right muscles to do so.
Below is an example warm up prior to a lower body strength day at the gym.
In the video I used simple dynamic stretching to mobilise joints and muscles, followed by specific activation exercises to get the glutes and core muscles firing. This will leave me prepared for my session.
